While working on games, sometimes things need a little love. Recently with Amazing Frog? 2, it had become a major priority to go through a bunch of systems and make a series of fixes.
We thought it would be in the best interest of ongoing development to spend some time aggressively fixing as many bugs and broken systems as we could—and indeed make some system improvements.
Yes, when you shoot another player with a balloon, they should be able to fly! If you’ve played the last few versions of Amazing Frog? 2, you’ll know we’ve been pushing it through a transition stage.
Unfortunately, not all game development is just adding new content. Often, maintenance updates like this one are critical.
But at least—it’s Valentine’s!
Our main focus has been Frog Life around town and improving general physics stability.
It’s the Valentine’s Event until the end of February…
Luckily, the Valentine’s system also needed some maintenance!
If you shoot frogs with Heart Arrows…
You should expect…
Gang Frogs Temporarily Removed
We had to look at how frogs were spawned into the world and then managed. While they were part of a system still in development, we’ve made a temporary break from the Motor-Bike-Helmet-Wearing-Hooligan-Gang frogs that were messing with you wherever you went in town. (Don’t worry—gangs will return as gangs.)
(Don’t worry, if you crave violence you can still start a Purge.)
If you want to…
So What’s Next?
Towards the latter part of 2024, we were more focused on Amazing Frog? QMMT.
Certainly, in the first half of 2025, our primary focus will continue to be on bringing “Law and Order” to Amazing Frog? QMMT.
It’s no secret that we’ve been working on a giant snake for Amazing Frog? 2 and the new arcade game system.
Many aspects of Amazing Frog? 2 have been developed alongside QMMT. I won’t go into too much detail, but a lot of what we started some time ago is still in active development.
While we had hoped to get this giant snake terrorising Swindon in February, we realised that to do justice to this system—and many other systems in development for Amazing Frog? 2—we need to make further improvements to the game architecture, including a full move to Unity 6.
Expect Snakes.
